Description

This is quite an interesting object, which share the same neighbourhood as Omega Centauri and Centauri - A, two very attractive object which are often captured and get a lot of attention.

The Fourcade_Figueroa Object (ESO 270 - 17) it has been identified as a galaxy shred, yeap, a shred from an event that would have been quite impressive between two galaxies.

The object was discovered by the Argentinian astronomer Carlos Raul Fourcade and the Chilean assistant Edgardo Javier Figueroa, at Cerro Tololo Observatory, La Serena, Chile. Reading a few articles about the object still is not 100% clear its origin, however one explanation is that it was ejected in a massive event from Centaui - A and an strong interaction with another galaxy, the interaction gave as a result two ejected objects, one the galaxy NGC 5237 and the Fourcade-Figueroa object (R.J. Thompson's paper at Mon.Not.R.Astron.Soc. (1992)257,689-698).

It seems that there are a couple of examples of such kind of events.

Anyway, I believe this object is also interesting to capture and image. I will do it again later with another scope.

In the image also is distinguishable the galaxies ESO 270 - 18 and LEDA 526835 even fainter ones.

Title: A new go on this quite interesting object

Description: I did a new capture of the same object but with a longer integration time of the images, and also total time is nearly twice compared with the first image. First time were 3h now 5h but with a faster system.
